Shadowbound Public Testing 1

Overview
Shadowbound is a 1-Bit Roguelite Deckbuilder RPG, where you battle various enemies, take on mini bosses and bosses, with cards, in campaigns. Campaigns are sets of battles, sometimes differently themed, that contain a couple mini bosses and the main boss. Your cards can attack the enemy, defend yourself, heal yourself, or cause other effects.

Features
  • Battle in various sized campaigns, all with different cards, themes, and unlock the gold card after beating the final boss
  • Fight with unique cards, ranging from simple stuff like swords and bows, or more fun things like bombs and potions. Each card has its own effects, damage, and abilities. Some can help you, heal you, or hurt you. 
  • More features are planned, but this is a testing build.

needs more animations for defeating enemy and dying, health down is pointless as someone else mentioned

It is jarring with the straight teleport to next fight and or main menu. I’ll add a little win/lose screen to make that better!

Health down will be more useful with a card that does more damage with less health, which I’ll add.

Played for a little bit, is a good starting point but does have some weird bits to it.

Main problem is I don't really see the point of the health down spell other than to make the game a bit more difficult, but I feel like that should be done with the enemies rather than your cards. Could see it being neat if there was another card that did more damage the lower your health was, but right now it's kinda useless lol.

Other than that, it's pretty decent for an early build. Thought the bomb + shield combo was nice, added a bit of strategy to the game. Think going in a direction where a lot of the cards worked off of each other in unique ways could maybe be a fun.

Only other thing of note is that it would be nice to see how much damage an enemy is going to do. Pretty cool so far tho :)

I definitely see the issue with the health down spell. I also really like the idea of a card that does more damage when you have less health, and I’ll definitely be making that a card.

I’m glad you like the bomb + shield combo, I’ll be trying to add more things like that. 

Displaying how much damage the enemy will do on the next turn will take some code re-work, but I’ve already figured that out and I’ll add that too!
